Robe is located on the Limestone Coast, with a proud tradition in shipping, fishing and as a gateway for immigrants for the Victorian goldrush.
As well as the beautiful beachside town, it’s a great hub to reach the UNESCO World Heritage listed Naracoorte Caves with their megafauna fossils that are around half a million years old.
Also in easy day touring reach is the home of Australia’s first Saint, Mary MacKillop, whose legacy lives on in the town of Penola, and the nearby Coonawarra wine region which has put the Limestone Coast on the international wine map for its premium reds, with the first vines planted on the unique terra rossa soils in 1891.
