Tourism Fiji is the Fijian government’s tourism marketing arm and is responsible for promoting Fiji as a visitor destination around the world.

The tourism industry contributes significantly to Fiji's economy as the country's largest foreign exchange earner.

COVID-19 has had a major impact on international travel. Like other tourism destinations, the Fiji tourism industry suffered greatly as airlines, hotels and tours shut their doors and numerous livelihoods were affected.

Since reopening our borders in early December 2021, Fiji has enjoyed the steady and safe return of visitors.  As of 1st May, 2022, we’ve welcomed approximately 95,000 visitors to our shores and provided jobs for close to 118,000 Fijians, both directly and indirectly.

In addition to the gradual return of visitors, Fiji is also witnessing the resumption of its vibrant cruise industry after the pandemic. With its breathtaking landscapes, pristine beaches, and warm hospitality, Fiji has long been a sought-after destination for cruise enthusiasts.

The resumption of cruises in Fiji is a significant milestone for the tourism industry and the local economy. Cruise ships have begun docking at Fiji's ports, allowing tourists to explore the stunning islands and experience the unique Fijian culture.

As cruise operators work closely with local authorities and follow stringent guidelines, travelers can once again embark on unforgettable journeys through Fiji's turquoise waters, discovering the beauty of its remote islands and enjoying the warm hospitality that the Fijian people are renowned for.

The resumption of cruises not only provides employment opportunities for local communities but also contributes to the revival of businesses that rely on tourism, such as tour operators, souvenir shops, and local artisans.

With the support of Tourism Fiji and its partners, the cruise industry is set to play a vital role in restoring Fiji's position as a premier travel destination and showcasing the remarkable experiences that await visitors in the post-pandemic era.

More than ever, Tourism Fiji plays a critical role in getting visitors to pick Fiji as their top travel destination. Working with our industry stakeholders and international partners, we believe that we can achieve the optimistic targets we’ve set to get Fiji back on track.
