Tasmania is a popular destination for cruise ship passengers and their crew, with the Tasmanian economy benefiting significantly from cruise ship visits through the state’s ports. Tasmania is Australia's smallest state and the world's number one temperate island and eco-travel destination hotspot.

In recent years TasPorts has invested more than $10 million in wharf and mooring infrastructure, fenders and gangway systems at key cruise destinations around the State, and in the development of a contemporary cruise terminal at the Port of Hobart

TasPorts’ ongoing investment in port infrastructure upgrades is in direct response to cruise industry demands and is driving Tasmania’s state-wide capacity to accommodate larger cruise vessels.
