Norfolk Island celebrates Thanksgiving Day

Wednesday, 27 November, 2019 to Wednesday, 27 November, 2019

Norfolk Island celebrates Thanksgiving Day on the last Wednesday in November each year. A legacy from the communities' interactions with the American whaling ships that made frequent stops throughout the 1800's, Norfolk Island is one of the few places outside of America to celebrate Thanksgiving Day.

Celebrations include attending Church services, where local is produce is auctioned off at the end of the service and is followed by a traditional lunch with family and friends. You'll find pumpkin pie and cornbread amongst the dishes, American style recipes brought by the whalers.

The Taste Norfolk Island Food Festival is held during the same week.
